  • Anti-gay prejudice Antiprejudicead, prejudicead, prejudice ad, antiprejudicead.net, anti prejudice ad ,
I was a child in the late 1950s and early ’60s when the protests for racial equality were occurring in the South. My childish response was to vow to grow up, go to the South and open a restaurant where only African Americans were welcome. My mother, excellent teacher that she was, took the time to explain the fallacy of “separate but equal.”
I hope that Gov. John Lynch will reflect on this when the bill to allow gay marriage comes to his desk. Inclusion is always better for society than exclusion. We still struggle with so many forms of prejudice. If we hope to someday eradicate prejudice, and I hope we do, we cannot allow any opportunity to squelch it to pass us by.
Governor Lynch, take this opportunity to eliminate a portion of the institutionalized prejudice in this country. If we allow fear to hold us back, we will never advance our society.
I hope that someday your children will look back and see that you had the courage to recognize the right thing to do. Please sign the bill into law.

  • Skin Care Ideas For Health And Beauty
Skin care is important for your health. Most people don’t take care of themselves and the largest organ on their body, causing poor color and advanced aging. A major issue in today’s times, skin care needs to be looked at seriously. You need to look at environmental as well as personal practices. Take action now, and you will have great skin for years to come.
Knowing your skin type is the first place to start with skin care. For the most part, all skin care types are the same, only taking into account pigmentation. If you are not sure what pigmentation is, it is the color of your skin.
When determining your skin type there are several factors to consider. Factor number one: do you have oily or dry skin? The second would be whether or not you have pigmented skin. The third factor is skin sensitivity and the fourth is the dreaded reality of aging: wrinkles.
When looking at the oily or dry skin type, here are some of the factors. If you have oily skin, you will feel slightly sick to touch and we’ll be shiny when you look at it in the mirror. Try skin will feel rough to touch, and unlike oily skin will appear to be dull. You may even see some light flaking of skin.
Sebaceous (oil) glands produce a secretion that helps keep moisture in the skin. Excess oil production can result in oily skin but that is not the only factor. Diet, stress, hormones, medications, and genetics can affect oil production.
As far as skin color, choosing skin care products will affect those with spotting. Some of the spotting can be from sunspots or even freckles. Particularly people in the sun a lot, you may need to be aware that the skin care products you use can have an effect on sun damage to the sunspots.
Skin sensitivity is all about your skin and it’s ability to deal with different kinds of irritations. If you have sensitive skin, it will show by reddening, or becoming infected, or even showing up as acne. Rosacea a condition that does qualify in the skin sensitivity category.
As age comes into play, wrinkling is another factor to consider. The amount of sun and the kind of skin care you use can make a huge difference in the kind of wrinkling and when wrinkling starts. If you are in the kind of climate that has excessive sun exposure, make sure you choose skin care products that contain UV protection.
When it comes to skin care, all of the factors above come into play. Whether is is the oily skin, or pigmented versus non pigmented, or even how sensitive your skin is. You need to take a look at these factors all together, and not individually.
Lastly, consider diet as part of skin care. In addition to proper nutrition, drink lots of water. Water is great for lubrication and keeping skin moist. A great way to drink lots of water is to consume herbal teas. The herbal teas provide lots of flavor, and the herbs offer supplemental health benefits.
If you are dealing with special skin care conditions like severe acne, some of these tips may not apply to you. For more information on special skin care conditions, speak to your medical professional. They can help you address the situation and recommend a program tailored specially to you.

The cause may be cystitis or infection in urinary tract. Cystitis is said to be an infection in the bladder. A lot of pain is felt in the lower abdomen which causes frequent urination as well as burning. Another infection also has its striking postures which involve in the infection of the kidney and ureter. A lot of pain is felt in the loins with nausea, vomiting as well as fever. This sort of syndrome is known as pylo-nephrites.* Pre-eclampsia – This occurs usually after 30 weeks of pregnancy. Early signs are raised blood pressure, increase of albumin in the urine, visual disturbances, severe frontal headache, and abdominal pain, vomiting and oedema of feet and ankles. This disease is dangerous for the fetus and for the mother.* Eclamsia – This means that the woman has fits similar to those of epilepsy, and coma. The condition may develop suddenly in a severe case of pre-eclampsia. The fits may occur during pregnancy, during labor, or soon after delivery. Eclampsia is a dangerous for both the mother and the baby. This condition should be prevented by means of good pre-natal care.* Ante-partum hemorrhage – This means bleeding during pregnancy after the 28th week. If it is slight, the cause could be some lesion of the cervix.* High risk cases of pregnancy – all cases of abnormality or high risk should be identified as early as possible.* Back ache – Slight backache may be due to poor posture and is more common in multiparous women whose abdominal muscles are weak. It can be prevented or lessened by attention to posture and by exercises.* Fainting – Sudden changes of posture, or standing for a long time, may cause the pregnant woman to faint. If she feels faint when lying on her back, this is due to pressure on the large veins, and she should be turned on her side immediately. Check for anemia, which may be the cause of fainting.Pregnancy Weeks :* 1 to 4 weeks – menstruation stops, pricking in the breasts, whitish vaginal discharge.* 5 to 8 weeks – frequent urination, breasts grow larger, nipple become darker, and surface veins can be seen, nausea and perhaps vomiting especially in the morning, cervix is soft.* 9 to 12 weeks – breast become darker round the nipple, vagina becomes a bluish color. By 12th week, weight gain is about 1.12 kilograms.* 13 to 16 weeks – tiny lumps appear on the areola of the breasts, the uterus rises out of the pelvis, by 16 weeks you can feel the fundus about half way between the symphisis pubis and umbilicus, the mother may feel the fetus moving.* 17 to 20 weeks – a second dark ring appears round the breasts, a little fluid comes from the nipples, the fundus is nearly up to the umbilicus, fetal movement can be felt and fetal heart sound heard, weight gain is about 250 grams per week.* 21 to 24 weeks – dark patches may appear on the face, the fundus is at or above the umbilicus.* 25 to 28 weeks – the blood pressure is slightly below normal, there may be shortness of breath, and quicker respirations, the fundus is 4 to 5 fingers above the umbilicus, weight gain about 450 grams per week.* 29 to 32 weeks – there may be slight swelling of the angles; the fundus is half way between the umbilicus and xiphisternum (bottom of the breast bone).* 33 to 36 weeks – again there is frequent urination; the fundus is at or almost at the xiphisternum.* 37 to 40 weeks – the uterus drops into the pelvis at about 38 weeks, and the fundus is then at a lower level. Breathing becomes easier, but sitting and walking may be difficult. Vaginal discharge increases. The total weight gain by the 40th week is from 9 to 11 kilogram.Nutrition in pregnancy:The pregnant woman’s diet should provide for the needs of the growing fetus, maintenance of the mother’s health, physical strength required during labor, successful lactation. Protein foods are essential for growth of the fetus. If possible the pregnant woman should have plenty of milk, eggs, and meat. If she is vegetarian she will need to have different cereals, a lot of pulses and nuts. Iron is important for making the baby’s food and to avoid or lessen anemia. She should have jaggery instead of sugar, sesame seeds, and plenty of dark green leafy vegetables. Calcium is necessary for making the baby’s bones and teeth. The best source of calcium is milk. Vitamins are very important for pregnant women. She should have plenty of vegetables and fruits, and modified diets like low salt diet, high protein diet is necessary during pregnancy.Labor administration – stages:First stage of labor is from the start of regular contractions until the cervix is fully dilated. During the first stage care should be taken such as when she has been examined and prepared, the mother may walk around or rest as she wishes. Encourage her to empty her bladder frequently, and to take nourishing drinks.Second stage is from the time the cervix is fully dilated until the birth of the baby. Signs that the second stage has begun are rupture of membranes, bearing down pains, dilated anus and vagina. The third stage is after delivery of the baby until the placenta and membranes have come out. While waiting for the placenta to come, give immediate care to the baby. After attending to the mother at the end of the third stage, give the baby bath, examine, weigh and dress the baby.

  • Face moisturizing, weight loss, antidepressants are key components
Wrinkles are not the work of genetics alone, claims a new study, which found that stressful environmental factors, such as a divorce, abnormal weight loss and use of antidepressants, are the real culprits that can wreak havoc on one’’s face.
According to a study, involving identical twins, despite genetic make-up, certain environmental factors can add years to a person’’s perceived age.
The study has been published on the web-based version of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons(ASPS).
“A person’’s heritage may initially dictate how they age – but if you introduce certain factors into your life, you will certainly age faster. Likewise, if you avoid those factors you can slow down the hands of time,” said ASPS Member Surgeon and study author Bahaman Guyuron, MD, professor and chairman, department of plastic surgery, University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
“In this study, we looked at identical twins because they are genetically programmed to age exactly the same, and in doing so we essentially discovered that, when it comes to your face, it is possible to cheat your biological clock,” the researcher added.
To reach the conclusion, Dr. Guyuron and his colleagues obtained comprehensive questionnaires and digital images from 186 pairs of identical twins. The images were reviewed by an independent panel, which then recorded the perceived age difference between the siblings.
Results showed that twins who had been divorced appeared nearly 2 years older than their siblings who were married, single or even widowed.
Antidepressant use was associated with a significantly older appearance and researchers also found that weight played a major factor too. In those sets of twins who were less than 40 years old, the heavier twin was perceived as being older, while in those groups over 40 years old, the heavier twin appeared younger.
According to Dr. Guyuron, “the presence of stress could be one of the common denominators in those twins who appeared older.”
Additionally, researchers suspect that continued relaxation of the facial muscles due to antidepressant use, could account for sagging. And though they do not advocate gaining weight to look younger, researchers note that losing abnormal amounts of weight not only have harmful effects on a person’’s health, but on their appearance, too.

  • What Diabetics can Eat for Breakfast
If a person who suffers from diabetes actually eats the wrong kinds of foods this could actually aggravate their condition even further. Today when it comes to making the right choices of what foods to eat a diabetic can use the internet to assist them. As they will soon discover when it comes to find the right kind of sample breakfast menu for diabetics the internet is an ideal place to start their search.
The great thing about these types of menus is that rather than breakfast being bland and boring it can be very enjoyable indeed. Also as you will soon discover all of these kinds of menus allow you to be a little more creative in the kinds of foods that you are able to eat with this disorder.
In this article we offer some breakfast menu ideas for diabetics which you may want to try. All of these can be made very quickly as well as being simple to create. Plus they contain the right quantity of calories that a diabetics body needs to ensure that it functions correctly.
Menu 1 – Take 1 slice of whole wheat bread and toast to your liking. Then once toasted spread over it 1 tspn of margarine. As well as the toast you can also have either a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese or an egg substitute. Plus if you so wish replace the cottage cheese with 1/2 cup of oatmeal mixed with 1/2 cup skimmed milk and 1/2 small banana.
Menu 2 – This one is even far easier to make than the menu mentioned above. Take 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries and drink 1 cup of fat free or low fat milk with them. However if you want in place of the blueberries instead have a small blueberry muffin or other type of breakfast pastry with a cup of fat free milk.
Menu 3 – Although not as quick to prepare as the second sample breakfast menu in this article, it is quicker than the first one. Take two toasted slices of whole wheat bread and on to these spread 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. As well as the toast you can also have a cup of tea or coffee (if adding milk use the low fat or the fat free variety) and one small banana.
If you can when it comes to any meal when you are suffering from diabetes you should try to arrange to eat them at the same time each day. By doing this you will help to ensure that your blood sugar levels remain constant throughout the day. What one should never do is actually avoid having any meals especially breakfast.
Another important point to remember when preparing any kind of sample breakfast menu for diabetics you want to try is that you use the exact measurements stated in them. If insufficient or too much of any one food is used this can further aggravate the diabetes rather than actually helping to keep it under control.

  • Sex Masturbation Link to Prostate Cancer Risk London: Men who are very sexually active in their 20s and 30s run a higher risk of prostate cancer, suggests a new study.
The study of more than 800 men, led by the University of Nottingham, also found that frequent sexual activity in a man’’s forties appears to have little effect and if done in fifties it could in fact offer protection from the disease.
However, the study by UK researchers led by Dr Polyxeni Dimitropoulou attributed most of the differences to masturbation rather than sexual intercourse.
The researchers looked at the sexual practices of more than 431 men who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 60, together with 409 controls.
All the men were quizzed on all aspects of their sex life from their twenties onwards, including how old they were when they became sexually active, how often they masturbated and had intercourse, how many sexual partners they had had and whether they had had any sexually transmitted diseases.
“We were keen to look at the links between sexual activity and younger men as a lot of prostate cancer studies focus on older men as the disease is more prevalent in men over 50,” said Dimitropoulou.
“Hormones appear to play a key role in prostate cancer and it is very common to treat men with therapy to reduce the hormones thought to stimulate the cancer cells. A man’’s sex drive is also regulated by his hormone levels, so this study examined the theory that having a high sex drive affects the risk of prostate cancer.
“What makes our study stand out from previous research is that we focused on a younger age group than normal and included both intercourse and masturbation at various stages in the participants” lives.
“Overall we found a significant association between prostate cancer and sexual activity in a man’’s twenties and between masturbation and prostate cancer in the twenties and thirties. However there was no significant association between sexual activity and prostate cancer in a man’’s forties.
“A possible explanation for the protective effect that men in their fifties appear to receive from overall sexual activity, and particularly masturbation, is that the release of accumulated toxins during sexual activity reduces the risk of developing cancer in the prostate area. This theory has, however, not been firmly established and further research is necessary.

  • How To Loss Weight
Easy weight loss schemes have flooded the market since the fitness boom began in the early 80s. There are exercise programs and there are diet plans. These two weight loss approaches pushes the body to actively deal with calories. We exercise to burn calories and we diet to limit the number of calories that we take in. Both put a kind of stress to our bodies that not everyone is well-equipped to handle. The basic fact is, raising your metabolism is one of the fastest way to get rid of unwanted fat. The interesting thing about it is that you can lose weight without reducing the amount of calories you take in by increasing your level of metabolism. The Acai berry is able to do that for you.
Diet plans are designed to lower your calorie consumption by reducing your food intake. When the body is in a diet mode, the metabolic rate slows down. If the weight you are losing is not enough, your tendency is to reduce your food intake even more. At this point the body starts to use up protein and muscle because of the lack of available energy to burn. Dieting has then become a counterproductive effort as the goal was to lose fat weight and not lean weight.
To maintain itself, the body uses energy in the form of calories. The amount of energy spent is what is called metabolism. To burn calories, you do not have to engage in any serious physical activity. You do it just by being alive. Your body uses up calories performing such basic biological functions like breathing and digesting food. The burning of calories never stop even when youre sleeping.
Wouldnt it be great if you could raise your metabolism without increasing your exercise? Or if you loose weight without a drastic change in your diet? Or better yet, if you could simply set your metabolism to high by simply taking a super-health food? The Acai berry can actually do all three! Greater still is that the weight loss is accompanied by an increase in energy. Ask any Acai berry user! There is no question about it, the Acai berry is THE fast and easy way to lose weight.
Exercise trends have come and gone. Ditto for diet trends. All of them require effort and a lot of discipline on your part. The Acai berry does it differently. It turns your body into an efficient and powerful calorie burning machine! You burn more calories so you lose weigh faster. Its 100% safe and natural too. YES! ITS TOO GOOD BUT ITS TRUE! Thats the Acai berry for you.

  • 10 Reasons to Breastfeed your child
Breastfeed, Breast milk is nature’s way of providing the best nutrition to a new born. The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding to babies for the first six months after birth. There are a number of reasons why mothers should breastfeed their babies, some more important than others. Here are 10 important reasons which should encourage non-breastfeeding moms to start breastfeeding their baby right away.
    1. Breast milk is easily digestible by the baby
As opposed to formula milk, breast milk is easily digestible by the baby as it is completely natural and does not contain any synthetic or artificial nutrients like those present in formula milk. The protein content in breast milk is also as much as your baby requires, which is easily absorbed by your baby. However, in case of formula milk, more proteins are present, which cannot be absorbed by the baby’s immature digestive system. This is why the stools of formula-fed babies are bulkier than those of breast fed babies.
    2. Reduced the chances of breast cancer
This is one of the most import reasons why mothers should breast feed their babies. Moms who breastfeed their new born are at a reduced risk of suffering from breast cancer at a later stage in life. Moreover, it has been researched that baby girls who are breastfed also have a reduced risk of suffering from breast cancer at a later stage in life.
    3. Breast milk increases levels of IQ in children
Children who are breast fed develop higher IQ levels than bottle fed milk. This is directly related to the growth hormones which are present in breast milk and are essential for the cognitive growth of the child. Whether the baby received breast milk directly through the breast or pumped, like using Avent Breast Pump or Medela Pump, studies show that it is the consumption of human milk that causes higher levels of IQ in school going children.
    4. Breast milk helps pass meconium
Meconium is the sticky, black tar-like substance that passes from the babies intestines after birth. A mothers breast naturally produce colostrum in the initial days after birth which contains natural laxatives, along with antibodies and hormones to help clean the baby’s intestines. Formula fed babies often have problems getting rid of meconium after birth.
    5. Breast milk helps build the baby’s immune system
Since breast milk is naturally produced, it contains all the essential nutrients, minerals, growth hormones, antibodies and other vitamins required by the baby. These substances help the baby to build a stronger immune system, helping the baby to fight against infections, diseases and illnesses. No formula milk can provide these disease fighting antibodies. According to a research, about 80% cells found in breast milk are macrophages, which are cells that help kill bacteria, fungi and viruses. This is why beast fed babies visit the hospital less often.
    6. Increases the emotional bonding between the mother and the child
Breastfeeding is a natural process and it helps the mother and the child to bond with each other by spending quality time together. This emotional bonding is essential for the baby to grow in to a good human being. Bottle fed babies who are not able to make this bond can develop feelings of “neglect” over time. Touching and holding gives a very comforting and soothing feeling to the baby.
    7. Breast feeding releases hormones in the mothers body
Breast feeding is known to release the hormone oxytocin in the mothers breasts, which helps in stimulating the uterine contractions, helping the mother to recover quickly after birth. Oxytocin helps the uterus to return back to its normal size. It also helps mothers to regain their figure more quickly. Non-breastfeeding moms are never able to shrink the uterus back to its pre-pregnancy size.
    8. Reduces the risk of diabetes in children
Infants that are breastfed are at a reduced risk of developing diabetes in the later stages in life. Studies show that lack of breastfeeding is directly associated with the development of Type I diabetes over time. Non breast feeding babies are usually introduced to dairy products at an early stage. This increases the level of cow’s milk antibodies in the child’s system, increasing the risk of insulin dependent diabetes. Infants that are breastfed are also known to be at a reduced risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
    9. Prevents post-partum hemorrhage in mothers
The release of oxytocin in the mothers body due to breastfeeding helps to shrink the uterus back to its pre-pregnancy size and also helps to expel the placenta. The contractions that allow this to happen also shut off the maternal blood vessels that fed the baby during pregnancy, discouraging excessive bleeding after child birth. Mothers who do not breast feed often have to take artificial oxytocin to help prevent post-partum hemorrhage.
    10. Protects the baby against illnesses, infections and diseases
This reason makes breast milk the best gift for babies provided to every mother by nature. The natural antibodies present in breast milk allow the baby to fight against infections such as ear infections, infections of the respiratory system and intestinal tract, as well as reduces the risk of asthma in infants. Not only this, but breast milk also reduces diarrheal infections, vision defects, bacterial meningitis and the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, known as SIDS.
These factors are just a tiny part of more than 100 other reasons why breast milk is best for you and your child. So if you are a mother who has just given birth, or will be soon, should make every effort to give the best to yourself and to your child.

  • Skin cancer drug and wrinkles
CHICAGO, USA: A cream used to treat the early signs of skin cancer may erase wrinkles and leave behind younger-looking skin, U.S. researchers said on Monday.
They said Valeant Pharmaceuticals’ cream Efudex, which is used to treat actinic keratoses, a precancerous form of squamous cell carcinoma, improved the appearance of skin, smoothing out rough spots and wrinkles, improving skin color, and erasing brown spots.
Sachs said the cream appears to be causing a wound healing response that leads to an increase in collagen production, which is improving the appearance of wrinkles.
“The drug has been around for many years,” said Dr. Dana Sachs of the University of Michigan, whose study appears in the Archives of Dermatology.
Sachs said it has been used for four decades to treat actinic keratoses, which appear as a scaly or crusty bump on the skin. They most commonly appear on sun-exposed areas such as the face, neck, forearms or lips.
Treatment with Efudex, known generically as fluorouracil, is not trouble-free. Soon after the cream is applied, the skin becomes red and inflamed.
“Patients look really bad,” Sachs said in a telephone interview. “Their skin is red. I’ve heard people describe it as looking like raw hamburger meat.”
But after the treatment, patients have said their skin looks younger. “People have commented for years that they look better. Not only are their pre-cancers gone but the quality of their skin seems to be improved,” Sachs said.
Sachs and colleagues wanted to see if they could actually measure a difference in the appearance of skin.
They studied 21 people aged 56 to 85 with actinic keratoses and sun damage. The volunteers used the cream twice daily on the face for two weeks and the team measured changes in the skin, taking facial biopsies over a six-month period.
The drug had a significant effect.
“People’s skin was much softer,” Sachs said. “The texture was improved. There are fewer wrinkles around the upper cheek and eyes.”
The researchers also noticed skin appeared less yellow and more even toned with fewer brown spots.
Sachs said for patients with precancerous spots, the findings may be an added inducement to finish treatment. It may be useful at treating the signs of sun damage in other patients as well, she said.
Actinic keratoses are caused by years of sun damage and can lead to squamous cell carcinoma, one of the two most common types of skin cancer that represent more than 1 million new cases each year. They are easily treated and rarely kill unless completely neglected.
